- The Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed interest in trading up to the third pick in the draft with the Detroit Lions.
- The Jags are in the midst of a rebuild, with almost all of their former AFC Championship defense gone.
- This has coincided with the odds for Jeff Okudah to be the third pick going down, and the odds for Tua Tagovailoa to be the third pick going up.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jaguars have been inquiring about trading up for the third pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, calling the Detroit Lions - the current owners of said pick, per Adam Schefter.
Here’s something worth monitoring tonight: Jaguars’ GM Dave Caldwell just called Lions’ GM Bob Quinn about this evening’s picks, per source.

The odds for who will be picked third in the NFL draft have been fairly fluid. Cornerback Jeff Okudah was a significant favorite to be the third pick in the draft as recently as a few days ago, but his odds have dropped all the way to +165.
2020 NFL Draft - 3rd Overall Pick
- Jeff Okudah +165
- Tua Tagovailoa +200
- Derrick Brown +400
- Justin Herbert +800
- Tristan Wirfs +800
There are only a few reasons why a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars, in the midst of a rebuild, would trade up to the third pick in the draft. Either they think there is transcendent talent available outside of prospective top two picks Joe Burrow and Chase Young, or they want to take a franchise cornerstone.

The franchise cornerstones on the board here are Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert - two quarterbacks that have battled for top-five positioning all year.
Tagovailoa's odds especially are interesting - as a few days ago, Tua was listed at +325 to be selected third overall.
Okudah was +130 to be the third pick and as Okudah’s odds have gotten longer, Tua’s have gotten shorter at legal betting sites. Now, both of them are in the same range, with Okudah at +165 still barely leading the pack, and Tua just behind him at +200.
These are just talks, to be clear, but should the Jaguars manage to secure a deal, one would imagine that these odds shift even further or be removed entirely.
There is a lot at play in the NFL Draft, and this is just one of the interesting subplots that are set up to unfold - NFL bettors would be wise to pay close attention before the draft begins at 8 p.m. EST.
