Where Will DeBrincat and Kane End Up After NHL Free Agency?

LAS VEGAS – The 2023 NHL season is officially over, as the Golden Knights lifted the Stanley Cup in Vegas. With this conclusion, the attention has now shifted to NHL free agency, where many teams are expected to make a splash.

However, bettors may be able to make the most money at USA online sportsbooks by wagering on players to remain right where they are for the 2024 season.

Patrick Kane, another former Blackhawk, is favored to stay with the New York Rangers but NHL online sportsbooks have longer odds for him to stay than for the DeBrincat situation. Kane, an unrestricted free agent on July 1, joined the Rangers at the end of the trade deadline in the hopes of helping them make a playoff push.

Kane’s 2023 playoff performance may have been poor with only one goal and five assists in seven games but he was not fully healthy. He ended up having resurfacing hip surgery after the postseason and is not expected to recover until four or six months.

Since NY gave up three picks to acquire Kane, bettors could take the +150 odds for him to sign a contract with the Rangers and be ready to play by November or December of the 2023-24 season. The 34 year old three-time Stanley Cup winner could still serve as very valuable to a NY team that has not made the Stanley Cup Final since 2014.
