LOS ANGELES – Derrick Henry being ruled OUT for 6-10 weeks has resulted in some major line movement in the Week 9 game between the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams.
The Line Movement
The Tennessee Titans were already labeled as underdogs against the Los Angeles Rams, but online sportsbooks have shifted the odds drastically in the Rams’ direction following the news of Derrick Henry being OUT for an extended period of time.
Titans vs Rams Opening Odds
- Tennessee Titans +3.0 -110
- Los Angeles Rams -3.0 -110
The Rams opened as field-goal favorites but have since become favored by over a touchdown against the Henry-less Titans team.
Titans vs Rams Spread Odds
- Tennessee Titans +7.5 -110
- Los Angeles Rams -7.5 -110
The question remains as to if this is an overreaction by NFL betting sites or not.
Is Derrick Henry Worth 4.5 Points?
There’s a fair argument to be made that this is no player in the NFL more valuable to their team than Henry is to the Titans. Henry is leading the NFL in rushing yards, attempts and touchdowns this season and was on pace to have one of the greatest running back seasons of all time.

Tennessee has run the ball on 47.36% of their plays this season, the fourth-highest in the NFL this year. It’ll be tough to find someone who can come close to providing Henry’s level of production and with the news of Adrian Peterson signing with the Titans, they may have got the guy they wanted.
Henry is simply too valuable to the game plan for anyone to bet on the Titans this week, especially against a team as good as Los Angeles. This seems like a good week to watch and see how the offense looks without Henry in the backfield and evaluate again next week.
Since 2015 the Titans are 0-2 without Henry in the game. All signs point towards that becoming 0-3 after next Sunday which begins at 8:20 p.m. EST and can be seen on NBC.
