BUFFALO – Sunday Night Football betting has already proved to be quite lucrative for some lucky bettors. The first half has seen some of the best SNF player props hit for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills.

While there is still a second half to go and plenty of live betting odds coming, there is still many betting results bettors can utilize to make some informed picks.

The first quarter saw both defenses dominate. Both quarterbacks have gotten pressured often and both teams have had crucial drops from their wide receivers. As for the second quarter, it’s been much of the same in terms of defensive domination. But, the Steelers managed to breakthrough.

Both teams' first half Over/Under's they both hit the Under for 10.5 points.

SNF First Half Game Props Breakdown

The first quarter started out slow for both teams. The cold weather may have had something to do with the crucial drops, but either way, it was a punt party.

With that being the case, both teams hit the Under in terms of first-quarter points. The line was set at 9.5 points with the Over being favored with -125 odds. However, the score entering the second quarter was 0-0 meaning the Under hit which had -105 odds.

The first score of the game came in the second quarter when James Washington landed in the endzone.

His odds to be the first touchdown scorer in the game (regardless of team) were set at +2500 before the game started so fans of the wide receiver cashed in big.

The first score method of the game itself was favored to be a touchdown at -210 odds and hit as expected. However, those who bet on the exact outcome came out with better odds. Pittsburgh to score a touchdown was set at +185.

However, there are still NFL betting odds for anytime touchdown scorer that can be hit in the second half. James Conner had +700 odds to score coming into the game. Conner has close to a dozen amount of rushes for an unimpressive amount of yards. There is also Stefan Diggs who has odds of +800 odds to score. He currently has close to a handful of receptions for over 30 yards.

Both superstar players have looked unimpressive, but so has everyone so it’s not a knock on them.

Buffalo Bills Player Prop Betting

The first half was slow starting on offense, to say the least, and the Buffalo Bills seemed to get the worst of it.

Josh Allen was hovering around a 0.0 QBR for most of the first quarter, and the Bills struggled heavily to move the ball throughout the half.

Allen hit his Over for INT’s (Over 0.5 -130) within the first six minutes of the game, as Mike Hilton came up with the ball after a great play by Cameron Heyward to interfere with Allen’s motion on the pass.

Beyond that dubious cover, almost no other player on the Bills made any kind of impact when it comes to reaching their game lines.

Allen himself was projected for 1.5 touchdowns with the Over/Under being heavily weighted towards the Over, and he has not produced a single one.

That’s not even the most outrageous Allen stat, with his yards O/U being set at 280.5, far beyond his real contribution of 76 yards.

Of special mention is Devin Singletary, who was projected for 40.5 yards on 9.5 carries. Singletary has done very little on the ground.

Singletary’s name could be switched to Single-carry at this point, with his 1 carry for 3 yards.

The story of the first half has been massive offensive underperformance on both sides of the ball, but Buffalo seems to have gotten the worst of it by far.

With multiple turnovers, the Bills really need to step it up in the second half, and they have a very long way to go before they even approach being halfway to hitting their O/U benchmarks.

As far as first half lines, there has been a lot of unders cashing for the Bills. Below are first-half game line projections for three key players on the Bills, Josh Allen, Devin Singletary and Stefon Diggs.

Singletary barely saw any usage as the Bills couldn’t get anything going. The RB wasn’t used in the first quarter, and the second quarter saw massive mistakes from Josh Allen as the game started to slip away. This led to Singletary’s usage remaining low.

Josh Allen was putrid - no two ways around it. He had a couple of long passes to Stefon Diggs that were unable to connect, and any of those connecting would have gone a long way to alleviating Buffalo’s offensive woes.

Diggs’ underperformance was linked to Allen’s, as the star WR was quiet through much of the first half. Diggs was a major part of Buffalo’s only good drive during the half, down the end of the second quarter, but still had a quiet first half overall.

Steelers Live Betting Player Props

When looking at the Steelers player prop bets, there were player props for almost all of Pittsburgh’s skill players. Most notably, there are props for players such as Juju Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool and James Washington as well as the many others on the Steelers receiving core.

Juju Smith-Schuster’s player props were set at 6.5 catches for 57.5 receiving yards. At the end of just the first quarter, Smith-Schuster had already recorded three receptions for 25 yards which was a good sign for those who were looking to cash out on him.

Smith-Schuster also had odds on his first-half performance as well for his total receiving yards. His odds were listed at +200 to have 45 or more yards in the first half in which he recorded exactly 45 yards to cash those odds out.

Looking at Chase Claypool’s props, his game lines closed at 3.5 receptions for 43.5 yards. At the end of the first quarter, Claypool was already more than halfway to his reception mark as he finished the opening quarter with two receptions.

He has seen his workload slow down in the second quarter but hopefully, he can come out of the second half in his usual explosive form.

Those who took the chance on James Washington’s 1.5 reception for 19.5 yards saw their bet come nearly close to cashing in the second quarter where he caught his first reception of the game for a 19-yard touchdown. This later hit in the first half.

SNF Second Half Betting

NFL teams closing at -2 are 39-45-4 (46.4%) ATS since 2003. Even as the home team, those favored by -2 are 24-29-1 (45.3), which does not bode well for the Buffalo Bills.

Still, they are favored for the SNF 2nd-half betting odds.

When NFL games close at 48.5, the over has hit more often than the under since 2016. At an over hit rate of 58.8% (30-21), there is still some more potential scoring for Sunday Night Football.
