SEATTLE – In a countdown to next Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks made a last-week transaction helping to solidify their paths for the 2019 season.
For the Lions, they received a fifth-round pick for the upcoming NFL Draft while the Seahawks added safety depth in Quandre Diggs as well as recovering a 2021 seventh-round pick.
The trade was made official on Tuesday, and shows that the Seahawks are on the path of making the playoffs and the Lions are looking to fall toward a better draft pick.
Seahawks’ Odds With Quandre Diggs
Diggs will be an excellent addition to the Seahawks’ secondary, as Diggs has been a starting slot corner and safety for the Lions for the last two years. Diggs is in Year 1 of his non-guaranteed 3-year contract, giving the Seahawks a valuable asset until the end of the 2021 season.
As an alternate to the Pro Bowl last year, Diggs was also one of the captains for the Lions and his departure came with much disappointment from fans and players.
Still, the Seahawks are doing everything in their power to remain in the playoff hunt. Despite being in the fifth-seed as a wild card bid currently, oddsmakers at US sportsbooks are not so keen on the team from the Pacific Northwest.

At Bovada Sportsbook, the Seahawks are +2500 to win the Super Bowl – giving them odds higher than many NFC teams outside of the playoff standings.
Additionally, their odds to win the NFC also fall behind the sixth-seed Minnesota Vikings (+900), eleventh-seed Philadelphia Eagles (+1200), and eighth-seed LA Rams (+1000). With odds for the Seahawks to win the NFC (+1200) well behind the back, bettors are still finding great value in their underrated team.
With Diggs on the roster, the Seahawks have a better chance to win the NFC West as well. Currently, behind the conference-leading San Francisco 49ers (-145), the Seahawks (+275) will look to continue their 2-0 divisional record on their quest to make the playoffs (-110).
San Fran has only played one divisional game thus far and has also had the second-easiest schedule of every NFL team by far.
As the Seahawks battle the Niners on Veteran’s Day and again to end the season before the New Year, Diggs should have plenty of time to get adjusted to the defensive schemes.
In short, for those who have faith in the Seahawks, the time for betting is now.
