Richard Sherman Favored To Land With The New Orleans Saints

NEW ORLEANS — With the NFL just under two months away, bettors can still get in on NFL betting action as the offseason is still in full swing and there are plenty of free agency odds to take advantage of.

One of the NFL free agency odds that online sportsbooks have available right now is which team Richard Sherman will sign with during the offseason in which the field is favored and followed by the New Orleans Saints.

Sherman is coming off of a three-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers and has made it clear that he is keeping his free agency options open and that he also wants to sign with a contending team in the NFL.

Outside of the field, the New Orleans Saints have the shortest odds to sign the likings of Sherman. It is strange that the Saints have the favored odds being that many believe that the Saints have fallen out of contention with Drew Brees retiring.

However, the same people that believe that, are quick to forget that Brees was one of the few offseason departures that the Saints saw. Their defense is still in full strength having ranked in the top-5 for both yards and points allowed per game in 2020. With that, it would make sense as to why New Orleans is on his radar as he could pair up with other star talent such as Marshon Lattimore and Cameron Jordan.

Bettors could take advantage of the Saints NFL odds to sign Sherman with no hesitation considering he would be joining an elite defense.

Seattle Seahawks

Another team to look out for are the Seattle Seahawks, who Sherman played for before signing with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018. The Seahawks are still seen as contenders in the league as long as Russell Wilson remains their quarterback which is a great selling point to Sherman.

Sherman, who has been very vocal about his free agency period, has also said that a return to Seattle is not out of the question either.

If Sherman were to choose a return to the Seahawks, it would work out for both sides as well as it would give Sherman that championship-caliber team that he wants to play for, and it would give the Seahawks much needed help on a secondary that allowed the second-most passing yards in 2020.

Although sitting with the third-longest odds, money can surely be made betting on a reunion between the two sides.

San Francisco 49ers

Although the San Francisco 49ers are the team that Sherman is potentially departing in free agency, they should not be counted out of re-signing the star defensive back as they are expected to get back to their contending form according to their fifth shortest Super Bowl odds.

The Niners suffered countless injuries in 2020 which dropped them to last place in the NFC West. Fast track to the 2021 season though, everyone is getting back to full health and the 49ers can be seen as a reliable threat on both sides of the ball with or without Richard Sherman.

That alone should indicate that the 49ers should not be counted out as Sherman has already established himself with the team.

Avoidable Teams

On the other side, the remaining teams on the odds board such as the New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, and Las Vegas Raiders, can all be avoided. Sherman is clearly looking to get back to the Super Bowl over making money at this point in his career.

Neither the Jets, Cowboys, or Raiders are anywhere near contending form so that alone should be the selling point not to waste any money on these teams odds.
