Through four weeks, tight end George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers has been named the best player in the NFL by PFF. Kittle has been given a grade of 92.7, the highest of any player in the league regardless of their position.

For any regular fan, going over Kittle’s stats for the season are less than mind-blowing. In his last three games, he’s only managed to record 17 receptions for 165 receiving yards. He has not scored one touchdown yet which leaves fans of a bit deflated like the footballs for the New England Patriots. However, Kittle’s PFF rating shows that his recorded statistics have nothing to do with his actual abilities.

In fact, Kittle’s catch rate has gone up from being 64.7% last season to averaging at about 81% this year. His reception rate has also gone up from 5.5 to 5.7 but his receiving yards are much lower than last season.
