COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference has found themselves in the midst of controversy as the fourth ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are in danger of missing the Conference championship game which would impact the team’s chances of making the College Football Playoff (CFP).
The cancellation of the Ohio State-Michigan Wolverines matchup this weekend creates uncertainty surrounding the Buckeyes. This will be the third game on the Buckeyes schedule cancelled due to Covid-19 complications this season.
As it currently stands, they have not played enough games this season to face the #14 Northwestern Western Wildcats in the Big Ten Conference Championship game. If the Buckeyes can’t play another game this season, they would still likely make the Big Ten Championship game, but they’ll need the conference to amend the requirement.
Ohio State owns the tiebreaker over the Indiana Hoosiers who would be in the Big Ten Championship game if the Buckeyes aren’t eligible as they defeated them in 42-35 in late November. The Hoosiers are the only other team with a realistic chance of making the Big Ten Championship game, but they just shut down their football activities this week due to Covid-19.
The Indiana football team has paused all team-related activities due to an increase in COVID-19 cases within the program. No decision has been made on Saturday’s game against Purdue. @WHAS11

The Conference administrators held a meeting this morning to address the six-game requirement for the title game with a change likely to follow suit.
#Buckeyes still could find an opponent this week depending on other cancellations within the league. The key point from discussions is that Ohio State could have lost its sixth game and still qualified for B1G championship. Wasn’t situation where Buckeyes needed to win to get in.

Indiana Hoosiers To Make The 4 Team Playoff
- Yes+400
- No-650
Winner: No (-650). After the Big Ten commissioners met today and the six-game minimum changed the Indiana Hoosiers were directly affected by that.
They already needed a lot of help to make it into the CFP and not playing in the Big Ten Championship game isn’t going to help their case at all. Take the -650 odds that Hoosier are on the outside looking in the four-team playoff. The positive coronavirus cases this late into the season don’t help the Hoosiers playoff odds either fade them on this college footbal prop.
