- Entering March, the Hart Trophy odds favor four players: Matthews, Kucherov, McDavid, and MacKinnon.
- McDavid looks to win back to back awards, Matthews and Kucherov look to win their second, and MacKinnon is on the hunt for his first.
TORONTO – With approximately 22 games left in the NHL regular season, there are four players close in odds to win the 2023-24 Hart Trophy award. Auston Matthews is the current favorite with +185 odds, as the Toronto center scored 20 points in 13 games played in February.
Hart Memorial Trophy Odds
Player | Odds | Points | Goals | Assists |
---|---|---|---|---|
Auston Matthews | +185 | 78 | 53 | 25 |
Nathan MacKinnon | +220 | 100 | 36 | 64 |
Nikita Kucherov | +270 | 104 | 38 | 66 |
Connor McDavid | +350 | 94 | 22 | 72 |
The race becomes complicated because Matthews is the leading goal scorer, Connor McDavid is the league leader in assists, but Nikita Kucherov is the leader in total points at 102. Even though he does not lead any of these categories, Nathan MacKinnon is sitting right behind Kucherov at a respectable 100 total points.

Betting On Matthews
Auston Matthews won the Hart Trophy during the 2021-22 NHL regular season. He scored a career high 106 points which consisted of 60 goals and 46 assists. While he already has 53 goals, Matthews should be able to surpass that 60 mark this season with 23 games remaining. He finished the 2021-22 season with 46 assists and currently sits at 25 and 78 total points.

Betting On MacKinnon
Unlike the other three skaters with the shortest odds, Nathan MacKinnon has never won a Hart Memorial Trophy. He is only two goals and two assists behind Kucherov this season. He is currently riding an eight game point streak and is known for getting hot in March. Over the last three seasons, MacKinnon has averaged 1.4 PPG in March (63 points in 44 games).
Betting On Kucherov
As the league leader in total points, it can feel surprising that Kucherov is not the favorite to win the Hart Trophy at NHL sportsbooks for the 2023-24 season. Kucherov has won the award once in his career, when he finished the 2018-19 season with 128 points. Averaging 1.72 PPG this season, Kucherov is on pace to finish the season with 134 points (20 games left).
Betting On McDavid
Connor McDavid is looking to become the first player to win back to back Hart Trophy awards since Alexander Ovechkin did it in 2008-09 and the 13th overall to do it. McDavid already has three of these awards under his belt and looks to become the fourth player in NHL history to win four or more. He has 94 points in the 2023-24 season in 55 games played.
