NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs: Vegas Look to Go Up 2-0 Over Vancouver

EDMONTON, Canada – The 2020 NHL Playoffs roll on from the bubble in Canada with a pivotal Game 2 in the Western Conference.

The No.1 seed and Stanley Cup favorite Vegas Golden Knights, continue their campaign to return to the Cup finals. The first game of the series was all Vegas, beginning with a goal in the first period from Jonathan Marchessault.

But what really decided the game was the onslaught that occurred in the second period.

Vegas piled on three more goals in the second frame and gave Vancouver’s defense tons of trouble across the board.

The Canucks were all out of sorts in the first two periods, where Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser failed to get off a single shot on goal.

Vancouver will have to regroup for Game 2 where they are once again getting underdog odds across major online sportsbooks.

The Canucks need to find a way to break through Vegas’ defense if they want to have a chance at all in this series.

In Game 1, 10 of Vancouver’s’ 19 shots on goal came off the sticks of defenders. That will need to change if the Canucks plan on scoring more than the zero goals they netted in Game 1.

The fact is that Vegas is one of the best teams in the league and Vancouver remains very outmatched.

Vegas still leads hockey futures bets to win the 2020 Stanley Cup.

There is still much hockey to be played, but Vegas could take a commanding lead in this series and even further on the oddsboard with a victory Tuesday.
