NFL Fantasy Football Week 3: Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

  • Joshua Kelley is considered a start option for Week 3 as is Zach Ertz.
  • T.Y. Hilton is considered a start option in Week 3.

LOS ANGELES – When fantasy football owners are setting their lineups for Week 3, it is best to look out for players to start and equally as important, be on the lookout for players to sit.

Online betting sites offer different insider information on players who should be started in Week 3 as well as players who should remain on the bench.

Running Backs

Start: Joshua Kelley of the Los Angeles Chargers should be started across all platforms in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers defense ranks the lowest against opposing running backs which means Kelley could be in line for a huge, break-out game. Kelley was named the RB2 for the Chargers which means he will be taking over on most running plays being that the teams RB1, Austin Ekeler is used mostly as a receiving back.

That being said, Kelley is poised for a breakout game.

Sit: David Johnson of the Houston Texans should not be played this week as he is matching up against a tough defense in the Pittsburgh Steelers who rank 29 against opposing running backs.

Just to give an idea of what this defense can do against opposing backs, they allowed just six rushing yards to a healthy Saquon Barkley who has double the talent that Johnson offers.

That being said, this should be an easy sit for fantasy football owners.

Wide Receivers

Start: T.Y. Hilton of the Indianapolis Colts could not have asked for a better Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets as he is coming off of a slow Week 2 game that he put up just 28 yards.

He is catching a break here against a Jets defense that allowed 312 receiving yards in Week 1 and 202 yards in Week 2.

That being said, it helps that Hilton is expected to be the top receiver in the game and is in line for a nice bounce-back game.

Sit: D.J. Moore of the Carolina Panthers is easily a sit candidate as he has a tough matchup with a Los Angeles Chargers defense that ranks 24 against opposing wide receivers.

He will have a tough matchup wherever he lines up on the field as he will be met by either Chris Harris or Casey Hayward who are two of the top defensive backs in the game.

It also does not help that he has an inconsistent Teddy Bridgewater as his quarterback. This should be one of the easier sits of the week.

Tight Ends

Start: Jonnu Smith should easily be started across all leagues and all platforms in Week 3 as he is primed for yet another breakout game in Week 3 against a Minnesota Vikings defense that ranks 12 against opposing tight ends.

Smith put up 84 yards and two touchdowns in Week 2 and the reason for that is that the teams lead receiver, A.J. Brown was sidelined and is expected to be on the bench again in Week 3.

That being said, Smith could have a repeat performance yet again.

Sit: Zach Ertz could be a candidate to sit in for NFL Fantasy Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Not that this is a bad matchup as the Bengals rank 14 against opposing tight ends, but the Eagles next man up, Dallas Goedert, has been eating away Ertz’s time on the field being that he has gained more targets in each of the first two games of the season.

That being said, Ertz could be in line for less field time yet again.
