NBA Betting: Clippers vs. Jazz Game 1, Series Betting Preview

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers are set to face off in the Western Conference Semi-Finals of the NBA Playoffs. With that, bettors can find odds on both the winner of Game 1 and the series as well.

Going into Game 1, online sportsbooks have the Utah Jazz not only favored to win Game 1 but they are also favored to win the series as well.

Utah Jazz Vs. Los Angeles Clippers Game 1 Odds

Getting into the game odds, the Jazz are favored to walk away with the win, and rightfully so. Looking back at their three regular-season meetings, the Jazz hold the lead at 2-1. However, in those three games that they played, the outcome could have gone either way in two of them as they were decided by six points or less. Something else for bettors to really look into is the injury report as the Jazz have announced that their starting point guard, Mike Conley, is questionable for Game 1 with a hamstring injury.

With that being said, whether Conley plays or not, this will be a close opening game especially being that the Jazz have the best home record in the league at 31-5.

Taking a look at the NBA odds on the spread, a 4-point advantage is pretty close.

All signs are pointing towards the Jazz coming out and covering the spread though as they have gone 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall. They have also gone 5-0 against the spread in their last five after allowing 100 or more points in their previous game.

On the Clippers side of the spread, they have not done a terrible job either as they have gone 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games against a team with a winning home record. On the flip side of things though, they have gone 1-5 ATS in their last six conference semifinals games.

That being said, bettors could swing on the Clippers covering the spread and keeping this a close game.

As for the game total, the Under could be considered as arguably the strongest bet of the night. The Clippers have held the Under in five of their last six games as an underdog and have hit the Under in 16 of their last 23 games as well.

The Jazz have also been on an Under trend having hit it in four of their last five games against a team with an above .600 record. In the last six meetings between the Jazz and Clippers as well, the Under has gone 4-1-1.

With both of these teams being defensive anchors in the league, it is hard to see this being a high-scoring game.

As many might be expecting, this series could come down to seven games being that these are two evenly matched teams. Both teams do not have much experience playing in the second round of the playoffs which could play a role on both of them. The last time that these two faced off in a playoff series, was back in the 2016-2017 season which went the full seven games and saw the Jazz come out on top.

Being that the Clippers have never made it out of the second round of the playoffs and the Jazz have homecourt advantage in the series with the best home record in the league, betting on the Jazz to win the series could turn out to be a nice profit.

The series is set to tip-off on Tuesday night at 10:00 p.m. EST and will be broadcasted on TNT.
