Is The Process Over For 76ers? Betting Odds Show A Rapid Decline

• Joel Embiid has -750 odds of being in Philadelphia for the first game of the 2021 season.
• Ben Simmons has -240 odds of being with the Philadelphia 76ers for the first game of 2021.

PHILADELPHIA – As the Philadelphia 76ers were sent packing from the NBA bubble following a first-round sweep, questions have begun to rise on if both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid will be a part of the 76ers come the first game of the 2021 season.

There are also questions on if there will be a new coach.

Starting with the star duo, online sportsbooks do have both Embiid and Simmons favored to be on the 76ers for the first game of the season but that can quickly change.

Looking at Joel Embiid, he is heavily favored to be on the 76ers for the first game but bettors should not be so quick to jump on this. Embiid has made some questionable remarks since losing in the playoffs.

The fact that Embiid has mentioned “onto a better future" should certainly give bettors to choose one of the longshot teams.

When looking at a team to choose, however, Embiid does not have a real connection or rumor with any of the teams on the odds board. The one team that could be a stretch here is the Miami Heat being that his former 76ers teammate Jimmy Butler seems to be thriving in South Beach and it is clear that the two have remained close.

As for Ben Simmons, his NBA odds are less favored since there have been rumors of the team actually moving on from Simmons.

The real problem here with Simmons is that he has yet to expand his offense beyond the three-point line which is a real problem for a team that has barely any three-point shooters. It would also seem that the organizations would value Embiid more than Simmons being that he offers way more.

Two teams that have been rumored to Simmons in the past are both the Phoenix Suns and the Chicago Bulls.

The Suns being that they have proven that they have what it takes to be a playoff team after their NBA bubble performance and the Bulls since there have been rumors of them trading out of the number four overall draft pick.

Coaching Search

As for Brett Brown, his time in with the 76ers is all but done as it is expected that the team will part ways with him after seven seasons following their first-round exit.

The real question here is who would step in to replace him.

The one name on this list that should stand out is Kenny Atkinson as he would fit in perfectly if Philly were to blow up the team. Atkinson is a great coach when it comes to player development and that is exactly what the 76ers will need if they were to rebuild.

Other 76ers Bets

Being that the Sixers were just swept, there are more things to look at than just Embiid, Simmons, and their coaching search.

The 76ers also have to worry look at Al Horford and his contract as well as their general manager, Elton Brand.

As much as Philly fans might not want to believe it, Al Horford will likely remain with the 76ers until his contract expires mas this is just the first year of his four-year $109 million contract.

At 34 years old, the only way that a team would take on Horford and his contract is if the Sixers stack on first-round draft picks with it as well in which they are in no position to do if they enter a rebuild.

Looking at Elton Brand in the general manager position, he is also favored to stick with the team.

There is no question that Elton Brand was able to bring in top-quality talent to the 76ers, but where his job security comes into play is because of the way that the team plays together and the fact that Simmons and Embiid just do not play well together.

However, there have been reports that although the team is expected to move on from Brett Brown, that they will not move on from Brand which is why his odds favor him being in Philly.
