- The Dallas Cowboys have +115 odds to win the NFC East in 2021-2022.
- They finished third in the division in 2020 after a disappointing season.
- Micah Parsons could be the key to them improving in 2021.
DALLAS – The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 2020 season, finishing third in one of the weakest divisions in recent memory.
Some may chalk that up to the absence of Dak Prescott, who was injured early in the season, and was on a record-setting pace as a quarterback.
However, even with Prescott, the Boys were losing games, and that raises some questions about how they’ll perform now that he’s back.
In the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Micah Parsons in the first round – a talented and versatile linebacker who has a lot of room to grow.
“Room to grow” seems to be an apt phrase for the Cowboys – they do seem to have the most offensive talent in the NFC East, between Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Amari Cooper.
Their defense was a huge weakness in 2020, however, and it’s unclear how much the selection of Parsons will improve that.
They certainly needed the help, with Sean Lee aging rapidly and Jaylon Smith slowly becoming an albatross of a contract.
The online sportsbooks think there’s a chance for both the Cowboys and Parsons to shine in the 2021-2022 season.
Dallas Cowboys To Win NFC East And Micah Parsons To Win AP Defensive Rookie Of The Year +1000
At first glance, these odds might be a bit steep, but they’re actually fairly accurate to the odds that the Cowboys have to win the division and Parsons has to win DROY.
NFC East Division Winner
- Dallas Cowboys +115
- Washington Football Team +250
- New York Giants +450
- Philadelphia Eagles +500
The Cowboys are currently the favorites to win the NFC East, with many expecting great things from Prescott.

If Prescott can perform at even 80% of the level he was at in 2020, he’ll be a great addition to a team that was dragged down by poor QB play last season.
Defensive Rookie of the Year
- Micah Parsons +500
- Jaelan Phillips +700
- Jamin Davis +900
- Kwity Paye +900
- Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah +950
- Patrick Surtain II +1000
As for Parsons, he’s in a great position to succeed – on a high visibility team filling a position of need.
The problem is there are a ton of incredibly talented defensive players who could take his spot atop the odds boards. Jaelan Phillips was arguably the most talented player in his college class, but almost had to quit football entirely due to concussion issues.
The talent is clearly there, and if Phillips can stay healthy, he’s a huge threat to Parsons.
Jamin Davis is a fellow linebacker who could excel as well, while Kwity Paye, Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah and Patrick Surtain II are also serious contenders for the award.
There’s a lot of competition for Defensive Rookie of the Year, and that’s probably the weakest part of the combined odds.
It’s not clear Parsons is the most talented of these players, and there are so many contenders that any early struggles could be a huge problem.
Still, this is an intriguing wager for anyone interested in betting on NFL futures odds.
