Gonzaga A Strong CBB Favorite After First Week Of Action

INDIANAPOLIS – With just over a week of college basketball in the books, bettors can begin doing their research on which teams are serious contenders to win the NCAA National Championship and which teams are not.

Villanova

Villanova is sitting with the second shortest odds to win the National Championship as they have proven year in and year out to be a powerhouse team in the country.

They have played a total of four games this season and have gone 3-1 with one of those wins coming over #18 Arizona State. However, they took a loss to Virginia Tech which shot them down from being the third-ranked team to the 12th.

There is still plenty of time though for Villanova to make things right as they have two games remaining against top-25 opponents in #17 Texas and #15 Virginia. Being that Villanova hardly ever disappoints, their odds could be great ones to take advantage of early on.

Baylor

If there was ever a team that is worth betting on their odds early, Baylor is the one. They have started off the season at 3-0 which includes a double-digit win over #5 Illinois.

In fact, all of their wins this season have come at double-digit margins which has also led them to be 3-0 against the spread this season. They also have more than enough impactful games remaining on their schedule against top-25 teams in order to prove themselves even more.

They have nine games remaining against top-25 teams which includes one against #1 Gonzaga and two against #7 Kansas. It is completely worth taking the chance on Baylor here considering that they have a great schedule to prove themselves but monitor their odds closely around the time’s of these top-10 matchups.

Illinois

Illinois is sitting with the fourth shortest odds to win the championship and are also the 5th ranked team in the country right now.

They have gotten off to a nice start on the season as they have gone 3-1 but their only loss came against their only ranked opponent thus far in #2 Baylor in which they took a 82-69 beatdown.

Despite that loss, they have plenty more opportunity to prove that they are the real deal as they have eight more games against ranked opponents including five teams in the top-10.

Their odds would offer a great payout as it is still early in the season, which is why getting a jump on their odds now would be a great move for any bettor.
