TAMPA, Fla. – With the Super Bowl just around the corner, many bettors are putting together their final betslips for the big game.
With so many different wagers available, many Super Bowl bettors are going back and forth on what their final bet will be when Super Bowl 55 kicks off.
Every favored is measured and pondered over, as if any little piece of information could be enough to finalize a betting decision.
One of the most impactful pieces of information can be seen where the money is going publicly. Over time, betting against the public has had major success for many sports bettors.
Currently, the Kansas City Chiefs maintain their three-point edge on the online Super Bowl sportsbooks.
Super Bowl 55 – 6:30 p.m. EST
- Chiefs: -160
- Buccaneers: +138
- Spread: KC -3 (-105)
- Over/Under: 56 (-107)
When viewing public betting data, the stats show that the majority of the public is favoring the Chiefs on both the moneyline and the spread.
So far, 61% of moneyline bets have come in on the Chiefs, with 58% of the spread bets going towards the Chiefs -3.0.
Additionally, anyone looking to bet the over-under should not that the public has bet 67% towards the over. Note that the over in this year’s Super Bowl is the third highest point total of any Super Bowl.
So this means that currently, the smart money enacted by fading the public would be on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to cover, or win outright, with a bet on the under.
This isn’t a surprising stat, as the Kansas City Chiefs are an extremely dominant and popular franchise at the moment. While it is unusual to have Tom Brady in a situation where he is being favored to lose, the Chiefs are more than a worthy opponent.
In just the first 24 of the Super Bowl betting line being posted, NFL Super Bowl bettors wagered $120,000 on the Chiefs -3 at the William Hill Caesars Sportsbook.
