- Major sports betting platform DraftKings has signed a partnership with virtual sports company Inspired Entertainment.
- Inspired creates virtual sports simulations that will now be available to wager on through the DraftKings system.
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Inspired Entertainment revealed last week a partnership with DraftKings to bring its new V-Play Plug & Play system to customers. This system is a complete-package online virtual sportsbook that permits DraftKings members to use the Inspired Virtual Sports system.
Inspired Entertainment is a software and technology company that has created numerous virtual sports simulations for the sole purpose of sports betting. Inspired’s Virtual Sports mimics the experience of real-world games, similar to a video game, except with more emphasis on emulating real-world results.
This move comes immediately after last week’s DraftKings merger with SBTech.
With this new deal, DraftKings gains access to 14 Virtual Sports, including football, basketball, soccer, auto racing, horse racing, and more.
What this means is that any DraftKings customer located in a state with legal sports betting will now be permitted to watch and wager on these virtual sport simulations.
This is huge for those currently lost without sports due to the coronavirus, who are looking to place wagers at any opportunity.

Brooks Pierce, President and COO of Inspired Entertainment, had this to say about the new partnership per company press release:
“We are very excited to team up with DraftKings to bring Virtual Sports to their passionate fans. Not only do we have the largest and most advanced portfolio of Virtual Sports, we tailor our products to sports fanatics with a combination of fast-paced action, ultra-realistic player simulations and a tremendous breadth of bet types. We are looking forward to working with DraftKings on bringing a continual stream of betting content to their customer base, especially at this time when there is limited live sports content available."
One of Inspired’s key features on their platform is the V-Play NFLA Legends Football simulation. This simulation is an officially licensed product with the NFL Alumni and is therefore permitted to use the name and likeness of former NFL legends. This means DraftKings users will be able to bet on virtual teams comprised of NFL legends, going to head-to-head in dream fantasy matchups.
In today’s current uncertain landscape, it is promising to see companies using their creativity to find new solutions for sports bettors. Until sports resume to a regular schedule, expect virtual sports betting to continue to rise.
