- Arsenal finds themselves with -120 odds to defeat Villareal.
- The Arizona Diamondbacks are +113 underdogs against the Miami Marlins.
- Fabricio Werdum is a -250 favorite over Renan Ferreira.
LAS VEGAS - Welcome to this fine Thursday edition of the Daily Sports Betting Preview.
First up on the Preview, Arsenal takes on Villareal in the Europa League. Then, in Major League Baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks face off against the Miami Marlins. Finally, Fabricio Werdum takes on Renan Ferreira in the Professional Fighters League.
There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!
Soccer Betting
Villareal and Arsenal are set to clash in the second leg of their Europa League Semi-final cup tie.
The first iteration of this matchup went Villareal’s direction, by a score of 2-1, which gives them a marked advantage in this matchup. However, it also means that they would be very happy with a draw, a state of affairs that cannot be said for their opponents today.
Arsenal vs. Villareal Three Way Moneyline
- Arsenal -120
- Villareal +320
- Draw +275
Thus, despite losing the first leg of this matchup, Arsenal are favored on the three way moneyline, as they absolutely have to win in order to keep their season alive.
This could, and should, impact their tactics in this matchup, and the online sportsbooks seem to think that Arsenal has a genuinely decent shot at making it through, with -120 odds to win this match outright, and potentially force extra time.
Arsenal vs. Villareal O/U Line
- Over 2.5 -110
- Under 2.5 -110
The Over/Under line for this matchup expects a defensive showdown, being set at 2.5 goals total.
This does not exactly bode well for Arsenal’s chances of winning outright - a 2-1 victory here would generate extra time, but a 1-1 draw would not.
Arsenal could win the tie outright by winning this match 2-0, or by reaching an equivalent score.
Soccer betting fans can watch this matchup at 3:00 p.m. EST on Paramount +.
Baseball Betting
The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Miami Marlins are in fairly similar positions in terms of what their records are.
The Diamondbacks are 15-15, and are coming off of an 8-0 loss to the Marlins - a loss they’re looking to avenge. For their part, the Marlins are 13-16, which puts them at the bottom of the NL East, although only 2.0 games back of the first place Philadelphia Phillies.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Miami Marlins Moneyline
- Arizona Diamondbacks +113
- Miami Marlins -133
After a dominant performance on Wednesday, the Marlins are favored to take down the Diamondbacks, as Madison Bumgarner takes the mound.
Bumgarner has not been having a great season by his own standards, posting the highest FIP of his career and the lowest ERA+.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Miami Marlins Spread
- Arizona Diamondbacks +1.5 (-190)
- Miami Marlins -1.5 (+165)
On the run line, intriguingly, both teams are performing pretty well so far this season.
The Diamondbacks have a record of 19-11 against the run line, while the Marlins are 17-12. This makes picking a run line winner a bit harder to do, and it might be worth simply taking the points for MLB betting enthusiasts.
This matchup airs at 6:40 p.m. EST, and will be broadcast on MLB Network and MLB Extra Innings.
MMA Betting
The Professional Fighters League has brought some spice to Thursday night MMA betting in recent weeks.
The League features some big names from days gone by in the MMA world, and it’s always fun to see them suit up. On Thursday’s card, Fabricio Werdum, a legend of the sport, but well past his prime at age 43, is set to face off against Renan Ferreira.
While Werdum is an MMA legend with a list of victories and championships that goes back decades, Ferreira is a relative newcomer to the sport.
He has an overall record of 6-2 in professional MMA, and he’s part ofTeam Nogueira, meaning he does know what he’s doing.
Fabricio Werdum vs. Renan Ferreira Moneyline Odds
- Fabricio Werdum -250
- Renan Ferreira +195
Still, despite the fact that Werdum is 43 years old entering this fight, despite the fact that he was ranked 14th in the heavyweight division when he left the UFC, Werdum is a huge favorite on the moneyline.
He’s not necessarily an overwhelming or prohibitive favorite, however - MMA bettors could wager on him and not feel as though they are throwing value away.
After all, he’s an experienced fighter in a division that allows fighters to age better than other MMA divisions.
Still, 43 is quite old for MMA, and one wonders if MMA betting fans could be looking at another former UFC champion losing in the PFL.
This PFL card will be broadcast on ESPN+ and ESPN2, at 5:30 p.m. EST.
Good luck!
