- The Atlanta Braves are -180 favorites over the Chicago Cubs.
- Neil Robertson has -250 odds to defeat Kyren Wilson.
LAS VEGAS - Welcome to the Daily Sports Betting Preview on this fine Monday!
First up on the Preview, the Los Angeles Clippers travel to New Orleans to face off against the New Orleans Pelicans. Then, the Chicago Cubs take on the Atlanta Braves in MLB action.
Finally, in the World Snooker Championship, Kyren Wilson faces off against Neil Robertson.
There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!
NBA Betting
The Los Angeles Clippers are still near the top of the Western Conference, but they might struggle against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday.
The Clippers are utterly overwhelmed with injuries at the moment. Kawhi Leonard went out on April 20th with foot soreness, Rajon Rondo is questionable for the game, and Serge Ibaka will be out with a back injury. The Clippers will also be missing Patrick Beverley, who was designated out on April 21st.
Despite all of these injuries up and down the lineup, the Clippers are notably favored over the Pelicans.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. New Orleans Pelicans Moneyline
- Los Angeles Clippers -140
- New Orleans Pelicans +120
It’s a bit of a surprise to see the Clippers this favored without Kawhi, as well as some important role players, but the Pelicans have really been struggling.
In their last ten games, the Pelicans are 4-6, and their overall record on the season is 26-34, making them the 11th seed in the Western Conference.
The Clippers may be on the road, and they may be banged up, but Paul George has been utterly spectacular in recent weeks. Since April 6th, George has played in seven games for the Clippers, and has scored more than 30 points in six of those games.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. New Orleans Pelicans Spread
- Los Angeles Clippers -2.5
- New Orleans Pelicans +2.5
George’s prowess will be what has to lift this banged up Clippers squad past the Pelicans, and the online sportsbooks seem to believe that this is a fairly likely outcome.
The Clippers are 9-1 in their last ten games, despite the fact that George and Leonard have missed several of them - they’re used to playing shorthanded.
NBA betting fans can take this one either way, however, due to the other injuries on the Clippers, and the fact that they're playing on the road.
This matchup airs at 8:00 p.m. EST, and is live on NBA League Pass.
MLB Betting
The Atlanta Braves were expected to be one of the best teams in the National League, and coming off of an NLCS appearance, that wasn’t an unreasonable expectation.
The Braves are still expected to be a good team this year, but they’ve started off slow, and expectations are lowering. They’re third place in the NL East, with a 9-12 record. They haven’t managed to go on a run recently either, with a 5-5 record in their last ten games.
Today, they face off against the Chicago Cubs, who sit in 4th place in the NL Central, but have a 10-11 record, slightly better than the Braves.

Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves Moneyline
- Chicago Cubs +155
- Atlanta Braves -180
The gap between these two teams - at least in terms of how the online sportsbooks see them - is pronounced, even if the gap between their records is not.
The Braves are, more or less, expected to break out of this funk at some point, and are, on balance, a more talented team than the Cubs.
Still, their lack of good form in recent days is worth noting, and while it is easy to assume that they will regress to the mean and become a better team in doing so, the question is when that will happen.
That said, the line for this matchup opened at around Atlanta -160, and has since moved to where it is currently, which says something about how the sports betting market believes in the Braves.
Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves Run Line
- Chicago Cubs +1.5 (-130)
- Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+110)
The run line on this matchup could be quite a tough one for MLB betting fans to parse. Neither of these teams has excelled at covering the run line this season, with the Cubs sitting at 9-12 against the run line and the Braves at 7-14 against the run line.
The run line matchup is close, with both teams in similar ranges, and Cubs +1.5 slightly edging out Braves -1.5 at -130 odds.
This matchup airs at 7:10 p.m. EST, and is watchable on ESPN.
Snooker Betting
The World Snooker Championship is in progress, and by May 3, bettors will know who the 2021 World Snooker Champion is.
One of the main contenders to take that crown is Neil Robertson, widely regarded as one of the best snooker players in the world.
Robertson is currently ranked third in the Snooker World Rankings, behind only Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump. His opponent today is Kyren Wilson, who is ranked sixth in the Snooker World Rankings, making this an exciting matchup.
Neil Robertson vs. Kyren Wilson Odds To Win
- Neil Robertson -250
- Kyren Wilson +195
Robertson finds himself a -250 favorite over fellow top ten snooker player Wilson, and this is in part due to the gap between the top three players and everyone else.
At the moment, Robertson has 965,000 ranking points, while Wilson has 621,500 - a significant gap.
It’s worth noting that Robertson and Wilson combined would not reach the ranking points total of Judd Trump, the favorite to win this event.
In a way, Robertson is just as big of an underdog to Trump in the long term as Wilson is to Robertson in this matchup - but make no mistake, both of them are very live as underdogs.
Good luck!
