LAS VEGAS - Welcome to this Monday edition of the Daily Sports Betting Preview!
Today’s Preview kicks off with a look at some of today’s biggest college basketball favorites. Then, the Preview takes a look at Chelsea’s matchup against West Ham.
Finally, the PDC World Championship brings some solid betting plays to the table.
There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!
College Basketball Betting
Four top 25 ranked teams play games today, and each of them is expected to win their game by a large margin. First up, at 6:00 p.m. EST, Tennessee takes on Saint Joseph’s.
Tennessee vs. Saint Joseph’s
- Tennessee -4500
- Saint Joseph’s +1250
The moneyline is incredibly lopsided, as one might expect from the tenth ranked team in the nation taking on an unranked team.
Tennessee vs. Saint Joseph’s
- Tennessee -22.0 (-105)
- Saint Joseph’s +22.0 (-115)
The spread is similarly lopsided, if not more so as 22 points separate Saint Joseph’s from Tennessee.
Next on the betting slate, at 7:00 p.m. EST, Florida State faces off against Gardner Webb.
Florida State vs. Gardner Webb
- Florida State -3200
- Gardner Webb +1150
Florida State, ranked 13th in the nation, is a massive moneyline favorite against Gardner Webb.
However, their moneyline odds are nearly 1000 points lower than Tennessee’s against Saint Joseph’s, even though the spreads are similar.
Florida State vs. Gardner Webb
- Florida State -20.0 (-110)
- Gardner Webb +20.0 (-110)
The reason for this is that the odds aren’t actually that far removed from each other in terms of RoI. Florida State’s moneyline represents about a 3% return on investment, while Tennessee’s is a little over 2%.
At 8:00 p.m. EST, the odds get truly lopsided and out there as Baylor takes on Arkansas Pine Bluff. This is a matchup so lopsided that there simply are not moneyline odds for it at many of the major online sportsbooks.
The spread provides a compelling reason as to why:
Baylor vs. Arkansas Pine Bluff
- Baylor -42.5 (-110)
- Arkansas Pine Bluff +42.5 (-110)
Baylor is favored by -42.5 points on the spread, which means that there is basically no way for the sportsbooks to offer a moneyline on this matchup without being very exposed.
There’s a point at which almost nobody would bet on the underdog in a matchup like this, and the sportsbooks believe this matchup has reached that point.
The next matchup on the top 25 betting slate is almost as lopsided as this one is, and similarly has no moneyline odds.
Gonzaga vs. Northwestern State
- Gonzaga -40.5 (-110)
- Northwestern State +40.5 (-110)
This matchup sees Gonzaga as a big time favorite over Northwestern State, in much the same position as Baylor is against Arkansas Pine Bluff.
While Baylor takes the crown as today’s biggest college basketball favorite, Gonzaga is right behind them. Each of these matchups provides a solid betting opportunity to wagerers who want to go chalk on their bets.
However, the spreads open up interesting betting possibilities with how large they are, and are certainly worth keeping an eye on for college basketball betting followers.

English Premier League Betting
The Premier League will be off for a few days after today’s matches due to the holidays, so soccer bettors should savor what they have on the board today.
Chelsea is set to take on West Ham in the late game today, which takes place at 3:00 p.m. EST.
Chelsea vs. West Ham
- Chelsea -200
- West Ham +525
- Draw +350
Chelsea sits as a -200 favorite on the three way moneyline, which is a sure sign that they will be an extremely dominant favorite on the no draw line.
Chelsea vs. West Ham - No Draw
- Chelsea -575
- West Ham +350
Chelsea currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League, while West Ham sit in tenth place.
However, eighth place for Chelsea is regarded as them underperforming significantly, which is why their odds are what they are in this matchup. The raw numbers do not draw a large distinction between the two teams - they have the same number of wins, with Chelsea having one more draw and one less loss than West Ham.
In addition, Chelsea has a better goal differential than West ham, by one goal.
Interestingly, when comparing alternate spreads to the moneylines above, there are some advantages to note.
- Chelsea (Three Way Moneyline): -200
- Chelsea -0.5: -190
These are effectively the same wager, but one can get slightly better odds at online sportsbooks by taking Chelsea -0.5 instead of Chelsea on the three way moneyline.
It’s not much, but it’s effectively a free ten points on the wager if one wanted to take Chelsea on the three way in this matchup. Effectively, this is line shopping, but done within a sportsbook instead of outside of one.
Soccer betting players should take advantage of all opportunities to shave points off of the wagers they plan on making.
PDC World Championship Betting
The PDC World Championship features several interesting matchups today, and play runs until Wednesday before stopping for the holidays.
Today, however, there are four matches on tap, although one sticks out as the most competitive of the bunch.
Ian White vs. Kim Huybrechts
- Ian White -195
- Kim Huybrechts +155
White and Huybrechts are set to face off in what projects to be a very close match according to the moneyline.
The score prediction prop for the match also leans towards a closer outcome:
Correct Score - White vs. Huybrechts
- 3 - 0 +340
- 0 - 3 +700
- 3 - 1 +300
- 1 - 3 +500
- 3 - 2 +350
- 2 - 3 +450
However, it seems as though the matchup also leans heavily towards White, as a White 3-0 has odds that are more than half as long as a Huybrechts 3-0.
Regardless, this matchup is the one with the closest odds for today, and that makes it well worth taking a look at for darts bettors.
