First, UL Lafayette takes on Coastal Carolina in some Wednesday night college football action.

Then, Toronto FC battles the New York Red Bulls, in the MLS. Finally, ATP Cologne sees Marin Cilic going up against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

College Football Betting

UL Lafayette is set to face off against Coastal Carolina this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are actually ranked at this point in the season, sitting at #21 on the AP Poll.

They opened the season with a solid victory over Iowa State, who was ranked #23 at the time, and have followed that up with more wins, sitting at 3-0.

Coastal Carolina, meanwhile, are also 3-0, making this a clash to remain the only undefeated team in the Sun Belt.

Let’s check out the odds.

Clearly, ULL are big time favorites in this matchup, given that they are a ranked team, and Coastal Carolina is not.

That said, this matchup should be a challenge for them, given Coastal Carolina’s relatively strong position in the Sun Belt. After their big win against Iowa State, the Ragin’ Cajuns have no margin for error - they need to keep winning to stay ranked.

On the spread, UL Lafayette are favored by a little over a touchdown, which seems about in line with the moneyline.

Interestingly, the first quarter spread favors ULL by three points, which is a fair bit more than would be expected given the whole game spread favors them by only 7.5.

MLS Betting

The New York Red Bulls are just a little bit underwater in the MLS’ Eastern Conference. They have a record of 7-2-8, which is good for 7th place in the conference.

Tonight, they face off against Toronto FC, the best team in the conference by a fairly slim margin.

Toronto are sitting at 11-4-2, only a couple of points ahead of second place Philadelphia, and needing to rack up wins to maintain their position.

Luckily for Toronto, they are favored to do so.

On the moneyline, Toronto are odds on favorites, and this makes a fair bit of sense. The gap between 1st and 7th in the Eastern Conference is vast.

For example, Toronto has scored 12 more goals than they have given up over the course of their 17 games. The Red Bulls, by contrast, have given up one more goal than they scored over the course of their season.

Given this, it makes sense that Toronto is an odds on favorite.

The spread for the matchup is half a goal, and there is some shading towards the Red Bulls on this spread.

This makes Toronto -0.5 a fairly interesting play for soccer bettors - they are, after all, -105 to win the game on the moneyline, which is a fairly equivalent wager to betting them at -0.5.

Given that betting them at -0.5 has +100 odds, and betting them to win on the three way moneyline has -105 odds, it’s a bit more profitable to take them on the spread if one thinks that they will win.

ATP Tennis Betting

There are multiple ATP events going on today, and today’s highlighted match is from ATP Cologne.

In this match, Marin Cilic faces off against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, in a matchup that seems relatively even on paper.

Cilic, who has been ranked as high as third in the world in his career, now sits at 40th in the world.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is ranked 71st according to the ATP.

However, those numbers might not tell the whole story of this matchup - a better metric might be age: Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is 21 years old, while Marin Cilic is 32.

With that in mind, the story of this match seems easy to recognize - it’s a young upstart against a wise veteran.

Davidovich Fokina is coming off of a fairly good US Open by his standards - he reached the fourth round of the tournament before losing to Alexander Zverev, an opponent nobody could reasonably expect him to defeat.

In addition, Davidovich Fokina added a doubles title to his belt at the ATP’s Chile Open.

The point being made here is that Davidovich Fokina is someone to keep an eye on, and matches like this give him a chance to prove himself.

Whether or not he’s earned the trust of tennis bettors against a veteran as skillful as Cilic, however, is another matter entirely.
