Events like this tend to reward the true fans, the PGA diehards - with the cream of the crop not participating, knowledge of the field gets rewarded.

There are a lot of golfers in this field, and without the elite, that means that the odds are disparate and fairly long on most golfers.

This means that bettors can construct situations in which bets on multiple golfers are profitable as long as one of them wins.

Similarly, live betting odds can be a great help in events like this, as the odds for each of the golfers to win will change with each stroke.

Overall, this is a very interesting event, and there are a ton of ways for golf bettors to wager on it.

Carabao Cup Betting

The Carabao Cup brings some excellent soccer action to the pitch as Arsenal face off against Liverpool in a reprise of their Premier League matchup only a few days ago.

In that matchup, Liverpool defeated Arsenal 3-1 after giving up the first goal, a result that showcased both Liverpool’s winning mentality and their elite talent.

It should come as no surprise, but Liverpool is favored once again.

Interesting occurrences are afoot with the three-way moneyline, however. Normally, the odds for the underdog to win and the odds for a draw are not the same.

The practices and formulas that generate odds are opaque to people on the outside, but they generally don’t spit out results like this.

The fact that an Arsenal victory and a Draw have the exact same odds is noteworthy.

Of course, a Liverpool victory is the most likely outcome. While the squads will perhaps not be the exact same as they were in Liverpool’s Premier League victory, the quality differential will be similar.

Liverpool should be expected to win the vast majority of their matches on the year, and Arsenal have not shown that they can be relied on to upset the reigning Premier League champions.

This matchup looks interesting, but Liverpool will have the edge in the estimation of nearly every soccer bettor.

French Open Betting

The French Open continues play on Thursday as the field continues to shrink downwards. In the last match of Thursday’s Men’s side of play, Lloyd Harris faces off against Matteo Berrettini.

Harris, from South Africa, is one of the largest underdogs of the day, mostly due to the power of his opponent.

Berrettini is a young star, a player who has rocketed up the ranks recently. At the age of 24, the Italian is ranked at eighth in the world, and is the seventh seed in this tournament.

He poses problems for almost anyone that he faces, and he’s a powerful and versatile player.

Harris will have his work cut out for him, but the young prodigies aren’t necessarily as reliable as the Big Three.

As good as Berrettini is, there is always the chance of an upset, or a chance that the spread is an interesting wager.

A spread of a full seven games is honestly quite interesting, given that Berrettini has such short odds to win on the moneyline.

By way of contrast, consider that Andrey Rubiev is favored by 6.5 games against Alejandro Davidovich Folkina, but only has -500 moneyline odds.

The sportsbooks seem very sure that Berrettini will win, but are either overrating his chances of winning, or underrating his power on the spread, assuming a correlation between the two.

Most likely, these odds are spurred by people wagering on Berrettini as a sure thing, which is an interesting consideration, but likely unprofitable at -1400.

That said, tennis bettors will have to draw their own conclusions.
