MIAMI – The Miami Hurricanes (+350), Oregon Ducks (+275), and Penn State Nittany Lions (+1600) are certainly some underdogs that could steal the show when betting on the conference championships.

While Miami does have the second shortest sports betting odds to win the conference, they are still a massive underdog to Clemson who have won six of the last seven conference titles. At the helm of things, their sophomore QB, Tyler Van Dyke is expected to make a huge jump from his already impressive freshmen season that saw 2,931 yards and 25 touchdowns with only six interceptions.

With a new head coach in Mario Cristobal, there will be a huge focus on the offense.

Miami is also returning three experienced offensive linemen to the front five which is sure to help push them forward even more.

It was a down season from Clemson and the ACC last year.

While 10-3 is still impressive, this is the most losses that they’ve faced in the last seven seasons. They also need to figure out if DJ Uiagalelei is the answer to their success after going for just 9 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season.

Looking at the Pac-12, all eyes should be on Oregon being that they put to the test early on with their first game of the season coming against the defending National Champions, the Georgia Bulldogs. While a win here is a lot to ask for against the defending champions, if they can hang in and keep this a competitive game, the rest of the conference would need to respect that. They should also be thankful that they missed USC this season on the schedule as it puts them on a clear road to make the conference title game.

As for their team, they are returning 14 starters to their lineup which is expected to play a crucial role, especially with a new head coach in Dan Lanning who helped Georgia win the National title last season as their defensive coordinator. Lanning is expected to be a huge help to a defense that allowed 27 ppg last season to opponents. With the early test, a new coach that focuses on defense, and many returning starters, they are well worth the risk.

Listed as the biggest underdog on this list, Penn State needs to be taken seriously as they have shown glimpses of being elite which included a 5-0 start to last season. While they have struggled in some areas, most notable the offensive line, if they can tighten things up there, they could be looking at one of the best seasons. Sean Clifford has proven to be one of the better QBs in college football and the fact that he is an experienced senior should play a role here as well.

Another thing to be excited about here has to be the addition of Manny Diaz as their defensive coordinator. Penn State’s defense was already one of the top-10 in the country having allowed just 17.3 ppg last season. Just to sweeten the deal here for the Nittany Lions, Diaz has led the Miami Hurricanes to a top defense in the country allowing opponents to score under 20 ppg in all but one season since 2016.
