Truex Jr. is in a similar situation, needing to pass Blaney or win the race, but also needing to prevent anyone who hasn’t won a race in the Cup Series from winning, as they would automatically be seeded into the playoffs if they were ranked in the top 30.
Coke Zero Sugar 400 Driver H2H – Truex Jr v Blaney
- Martin Truex Jr +105
- Ryan Blaney -135
In the head-to-head, the sportsbooks tip Blaney to end up with a better finish than Truex, a situation that would put Blaney in the playoffs unless a non-playoff competitor ranked in the top 30 manages to win the race outright.
Truex Jr.’s 25 point deficit to Blaney has left him with +2200 odds to win the Cup Series, but that’s still the 13th shortest auto racing odds, and he isn’t even qualified for the Playoffs right now, while 15 other drivers are locked.
The Coke Zero Sugar 400 starts at 7:00 p.m. ET at Daytona International Speedway. Coverage of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 will take place on NBC.
