CFL Begins With Stampeders Favored Over Alouttes

MONTREAL – Week 1 of the CFL season kicks off with a matchup between the Calgary Stampeders and the Montreal Alouettes. Both teams were above .500 in the 2021 season, with each finishing with an 8-6 record over the course of their 14 games.

However, neither of them made it to the Grey Cup, and both are relative longshots to do so this season, behind the champion Blue Bombers and the runner-up Tiger-Cats.

Their matchup is close on many online sportsbooks, but there’s still room to line shop just a bit, even on a sports league as relatively obscure as the CFL.

Bovada and DraftKings have very similar views of this matchup – both give the Stampeders a -3.5 advantage on the spread, and both have Stampeders -3.5 and Alouettes +3.5 at -110 odds.

However, they differ just slightly in terms of moneyline odds, and bettors can shave five points off either side of the moneyline by line shopping with just these two books.

Alouettes bettors should use DraftKings, where they can be found at +155, rather than Bovada’s +150. Stampeders bettors should use Bovada, where the Stampeders have -175 odds to win, rather than -180 odds to win.

There’s one other minor odds discrepancy to take note of. Bovada has the O/U set at 44.5 points, while DraftKings sets it at 45 points even.

Both sportsbooks have -110 on both sides of that wager as well, so over bettors will want to take the free half point at Bovada, while under bettors will want to take the free half point at DraftKings.

The Montreal Alouettes and Calgary Stampeders face off on June 9, 2022. The game kicks off at 9 p.m. EST, and is the only CFL game on that day, as the season opener. It will be broadcast on TSN and ESPN+.
