- "Music” receives shortest odds at -120 to win Worst Film at the 41st Annual Razzies.
- Worst Director, Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actress are all also favored to be from “Music.”
LOS ANGELES – With the Academy Awards only days away, it also means it’s almost time for the Razzies Awards.
For those unfamiliar with the Razzies, it’s essentially the opposite of the Academy Awards. Instead of awarding the best films and performances, it’s a time where the absolute worst that Hollywood has to offer is recognized and celebrated.
According to sportsbooks, “Music,” a musical drama directed by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, Sia, is amongst the worst films of the year. As a matter of fact, not only is it one of the worst, but it is the most likely to be crowned the Worst Film of the year.
2021 Razzies - Worst Film Odds
- Music -120
- Dolittle +275
- 365 Days +450
- Fantasy Island +1000
- Absolute Proof +1400
Is “Music” at -120 Too Good to be True?
While “Music” is the favorite, it might surprise some people that it’s not an even bigger favorite. When looking through the online sportsbooks odds for all of this year’s Razzies, you might see something interesting.
The director of “Music,” Sia, is the -175 favorite to win the Worst Director award. The lead actress, Kate Hudson, is the -230 favorite to win Worst Actress. And supporting actress, Maddie Ziegler, is the -135 favorite to be named Worst Supporting Actress.
On Rotten Tomatoes, “Music” was given a 13% audience score. For reference, Dolittle (+275) has a 76% audience score, 365 days (+450) has a 29% and Fantasy Island (+1000) has a 48%. Note: Absolute Proof does not have a Rotten Tomatoes page.
Just thinking logistically, it would make sense for the movie with the worst director, actress, supporting actress and lowest audience score to have shorter odds than -120.
How Did The Films Sell?
As the finalists for worst film of the year, it would make sense that each of these movies completely underwhelmed at the box office. However, sometimes there are movies that are so bad, you must watch them.
