- Aaron Rodgers needs to replace the production of Davante Adams in his offense.
- Aaron Jones could be a beneficiary, with Rodgers noting that 50 targets could be on the table.
- Allen Lazard has -130 odds to go over 725.5 yards in the air, and is the presumed WR1 for now.
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Aaron Rodgers has always had a main target in Green Bay, from Jordy Nelson to Randall Cobb to Davante Adams – but who will it be now that Adams is gone?
Aaron Rodgers is a QB who often throws to the first read. Per Pro Football Focus, Rodgers threw 61% of his passes to the first read in 2021, as compared to 11% to the second read and 6% to the checkdown.
Adams was often that target, leading the Packers in third down targets with 43, blitz targets with 45, and red zone targets with 27.
Someone is going to get those targets – and Aaron Jones and Allen Lazard are the prime beneficiaries, with a tip of the cap to Romeo Doubs.
The Contenders:
- Aaron Jones
- Allen Lazard
- Romeo Doubs
Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones has been a premier pass catching RB for years, and is now in a position where he might have the surest hands on the team.
Aaron Jones Rush & Rec Yards 2022 Reg. Season
- Over 1300.5 -115
- Under 1300.5 -115
Sportsbooks have been avoiding posting odds on his pure receiving totals, but bettors can still find rush+rec yards odds at many online sportsbooks.
Jones saw 29 targets in 2021, and racked up 391 yards on those targets – and Rodgers thinks he could get more in 2022.
After saying young WRs need to be more consistent, Aaron Rodgers says 50 targets apiece for Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon is “very realistic” this season. #Packers offense could rely on those two a lot in passing game. “You’ve got to get your best 11 on the field,” Rodgers says.

Allen Lazard
Allen Lazard is by all accounts the official WR1 of this team – although if 20% of the target share in the offense goes to the RBs, he might be a bit less than a typical Rodgers WR1.
Allen Lazard Rec Yards 2022 Reg. Season
- Over 725.5 -130
- Under 725.5 EVEN
His quarterback, however, has been bullish on his prospects.
“I think Allen is ready to make a jump and be a No. 1 wide receiver,” Rodgers said. “Excited about the opportunity to work with him.”
Romeo Doubs
Romeo Doubs is currently going through the hype cycle with regards to fantasy play, although the online sportsbooks are unwilling to go out on a limb with him.
Bovada, for example, has posted no props for Doubs’ season, while the best one can find at BetOnline is that Doubs has +1800 NFL odds to be the Rookie of the Year.
Doubs was the target of Rodgers’ ire recently, as Rodgers called one of his drops “my best throw of the day”, and referring to another play as “not a great route, not a great finish by Romeo.”
Doubs is talented, but he might not be a solid bet for picking up WR1 duties at this point.
