Epicenter, +400 Odds To Win The Kentucky Derby

Epicenter has raced in six races in his career and has either won or placed in five of the six. The only race this was not true of was his first race, in which he finished sixth.

After that first race, he took two months off, and came back with a vengeance, winning two races, finishing second in another, and then winning two more.

Messier, +650 Odds To Win The Kentucky Derby

Messier has never finished below second place in any race he has ever competed in, and in one of those races, he finished second to Taiba, a worthy competitor.

Speaking of Taiba, both horses are trained by Tim Yakteen, and they’re something of a paired set, finishing first and second in the Santa Anita Derby in early April.

Messier is the far more tested of the two, with six races under his belt, and his consistent record of dominance is nothing to sneeze at.

Taiba, +650 Odds To Win The Kentucky Derby

Taiba is a bit of a mystery as far as the Kentucky Derby betting field goes. He’s only competed in two races, but he’s won both of them.

This includes a win in the Santa Anita Derby over Messier, which made many horse race bettors sit up and take notice.

Taiba and Messier were originally trained by Bob Baffert, but Tim Yakteen took over as Baffert is still dealing with the fallout from the Medina Spirit scandal in the Kentucky Derby last year, and cannot put horses in the Derby this year.
