9 Divisional Games Kick Off NFL’s Opening Weekend

The New England Patriots are -325 favorites over the Miami Dolphins.
The New Orleans Saints have -175 odds over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

INDIANAPOLIS - The NFL season kicks off in earnest on Sunday are betting trends and previews of all of the divisional games on Sunday have arrived.

There are nine games to get through.

The Dolphins are pretty serious underdogs in this matchup with the Patriots. The Patriots are a bit of an unknown this season, after the departure of Tom Brady, but they’re still significant favorites over the Dolphins.

The Washington Football Team kicks off their quasi-inaugural season under their new name with a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles added Jalen Reagor during the draft, and they’ll look for him to add a new dimension to an offense that lacked explosiveness last year. The Eagles are rightfully favored in this matchup.

The Green Bay Packers once again start the season off facing the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers are underdogs here, which is a bit abnormal, but they’re looking for Aaron Rodgers to pull yet another Week 1 miracle out of his arm.

Speaking of Rodgers’ arm, the quarterback noted that it feels great, which could be a reason to bet on the underdogs in this one.

The Indianapolis Colts open the season against what most people think is the worst team in the league. The Jaguars are abysmal, and bottoming out further. They’re in an interesting spot, but not the good kind of interesting.

The Colts are big favorites, and could be a decent play in survivor pools.

The Chicago Bears, still somehow starting Mitch Trubisky, face off against the Detroit Lions, still somehow coached by Matt Patricia.

NFL bettors might want to stay away from this one - there just isn’t enough knowledge about either side of this matchup.

Both teams seem fairly mediocre, and trying to distinguish between teams like this is a tough ask.

Speaking of mediocrity, the New York Jets are also playing in a divisional matchup! They face off against the Buffalo Bills, a team that has expectations upon them this season.

The Bills are -300 favorites, which means they’re favored on the spread by just under a touchdown (-6.5).

The Baltimore Ravens are widely expected to be among the NFL’s elite this season. They have the second highest win total projected across the season, and the second shortest Super Bowl odds.

They face off against a Cleveland Browns team that has the talent to compete, but has not managed to do so thus far. It will be interesting to see how the Browns face this challenge.

An up-and-coming Arizona Cardinals team faces off against the defending NFC Champions. The 49ers are less favored than one might think they should be.

The Cardinals have a lot of hype behind them coming into the season, and it might be affecting the lines.

One of the most anticipated matchups of the season happens in Week 1 - Tom Brady vs. Drew Brees. The two aging gunslingers are set to face off in a divisional matchup for the first time, as Brady is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady has been favored in 74 straight regular-season games according to ESPN Stats and Info.

That streak ends with this game, as the Saints are favored.
