- The Villanova Wildcats are the favorites to win the Big East Conference Tournament.
- The Seton Hall Pirates and Creighton Bluejays are close behind.
- The Butler Bulldogs have the fourth shortest odds to win the Big East Tournament.
NEW YORK - With the Big East regular-season coming to an end, there is no clear favorite to win the conference championship. The Villanova Wildcats have a slight edge according to online sportsbooks but not by much.
The Creighton Bluejays, Seton Hall Pirates, and Butler Bulldogs all have realistic chances of going the distance in the Big East Tournament and also make some noise in March Madness.
Villanova Wildcats
Villanova is the leader on the odds board at +325. They had a good season going 24-7 overall and 13-5 in conference play. They have been ranked in the Top 25 all season long with their highest rank being at eight. They started off strong at the start of the season going 17-3 in their first 20 games. The end of the season for them was a little rocky. They have 20 games with 70 or more points.
This was a total team effort for the Wildcats this season. A lot of guys stepped up as they have five players averaging double digits. Saddiq Bey led in scoring with 16.1 ppg followed by Collin Gillespie with 15.1 ppg. If all their guys keep playing how they are, they are going to be a tough team to stop in the conference tournament and a scary team to face during the March Madness tournament.
Seton Hall Pirates
The Pirates were on a mission this season. Seton Hall’s odds at winning the Big East tournament are not far from Villanova at +350. They finished the season having gone 21-9 overall and 13-5 in conference play. They were in and out of the Top 25 to start the season but a 10-game win streak helped them find their identity as they were ranked as high as eight in the country as well.
They are going into the conference tournament ranked 16. They have 10 games with 80 or more points this season.
They have valuable upperclassmen leadership on this tea from senior Myles Powell who is giving it his all with 21 ppg and 4.3 rpg. Quincy McKnight and Sandro Mamukelashvili are both averaging 11.9 ppg to help lead this team as well.
If this display of leadership continues, they will make some noise in the conference tournament.
Creighton Bluejays
Creighton had just as good of a year as anyone else. They finished the season 24-7 overall and went 13-5 in conference basketball. Their odds at winning the Big East title are at +450. They did not start the season ranked but surged with a 6-2 record against top 25 teams and finished the season ranked number seven in the country. They have 16 games with 80 or more points.

Their guard play has been incredible as they have four guards averaging double digits. Ty-Shon Alexander leads the way for them with 16.9 ppg and Marcus Zegarowski who averages 16.1 ppg.
There is a lot of experience on this team and if the leaders and guard play keeps unfolding like it is, this team is going to be unstoppable in the conference tournament as well as the NCAA Tournament. Those betting on college basketball should watch how they perform now before betting on the pirates later in the big dance.
The Bluejays odds to win the Big East tournament are at +450.
Butler Bulldogs
Butler had a decent overall season but their conference play needs to get better. They went 22-9 overall and 10-8 in conference play. They had an up and down season as they bounced in and out of the Top 25.
They managed to work their way up to a number five rank before falling unranked again. They just barely made it back inside the Top 25 at 24 to end the season.
They looked hot to start the season as they went 14-1 in their first 15 games. They have 13 games with 70 or more points. This is a very experienced team as they have nine players who are juniors and seniors. Kamar Baldwin (16.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg) and Sean McDermott (11.7 ppg, 6.3 ppg) have led the way for this team all season.
If their veterans step up this team will have the upper hand against anyone they play. This makes Butler’s odds to win the Big East Tournament at +500 very attractive.
