- Monday Night Football gives bettors options to wager on the 116th meeting between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
- The Boston Bruins lead the NHL in multiple statistical categories and will look to continue their success against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
- Two of the worst teams in Serie A are facing off, giving hope that Spal or Sampdoria can remove themselves from the regelation zone.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After a solid weekend of college and professional football, bettors may switch their attention back to the random sports that rule the weekdays. As every home team in the NFL won from the 1 p.m. EST games and on, many bettors would able to turn a nice profit.
On Monday, bettors are given more opportunities to continue to increase their bankroll with the help of Monday Night Football, an NHL battle in New England, and a Serie A matchup against two of the worst teams in the league. Aside from these, there are also six NBA games starting at 7 p.m. EST.
Monday Night Football
The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants will battle for the second time this season when the Cowboys take the field at the Meadowlands. Playing against each other since the start of the season, this contest will be greatly different from their first. Not only is Daniel Jones the starting quarterback but Golden Tate is no longer on his suspension and Ezekiel Elliott is not hampered by lack of conditioning.
The Giants (+255) are sizable underdogs at home against the Cowboys (-305), which makes sense as the Cowboys have won five in a row. Dating back to 2013, the Cowboys have won 10 to the Giants three, but anything can happen in East Rutherford.
Over the last nine meetings between these two teams during the regular season and at the Giant’s home field, the Cowboys have won six of them. However, victories from either side never came easy, as the average margin of victory is just over a touchdown (8.1 points). Take away a 12- and a 17- point victory that happened in 2010 and 2011, and the average moves down to 6.2 points.
Another way to put it: six of their nine games have been decided by seven points or less, where four of those were within a field goal at the game’s conclusion.
With this, look to take the Giants +7 despite the fact that their defense has not helped them all season. The Giants have let up the 6th most yards per game (8th in passing), giving opposing quarterbacks the 4th best completion percentage (70.2%) and 5th best passer rating (104.4)
Another bet to consider is taking the over on the Cowboys points (27.5) – something they have done in three of the last four matchups. Make sure not to miss out, when this game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. EST on ESPN.
NHL In Boston
The Boston Bruins have been on a tear to start the year. Even with right wing David Pastrnak leading the league in points (27) and goals scored (13), they are not reliant on him for their team’s success. The passing abilities of Brad Marchand have him ranked third in points (23) due to the 15 assists he has on the year (also third).

When this team has the benefit of an extra player on the power play, they definitely capitalize. Scoring on 32.6% of their power plays, the Bruins lead the league in this department, which averages a scoring percentage of 19.3% throughout the entire NHL.
Aside from scoring, the Bruins are led by goalie Tuukka Rask, who is leading the league in save percentage (.949) and goals against per game (1.49).
At US sportsbooks the Bruins (-165) are favored over the Pittsburgh Penguins (+145) but the puck line offers bettors a way to take the Bruins as an underdog. Listed at +145 (-1.5), the Bruins could easily cover behind Rask, assuming Sidney Crosby doesn’t find the back of the net.
The over/under is set at six goals and taking the under would be wise, as a victory is likely – or at least a push to fall back on. This game begins at 7 p.m. EST and can be seen on NHL Network.
Avoiding Relegation In Serie A
While the season is still in its early stages, two teams are currently set to be relegated and face off today at 2:45 p.m. EST.
In this three-way betting style, bettors are given the option of taking Spal (+160), U.C. Sampdoria (+195), or a draw (+215). Spal has one victory to their name in the last five games, whereas Sampdoria has none. However, Spal has been shutout in half of their games they have played thus far while giving up 1.7 goals per game.
For Sampdoria, their four times being shutout aren’t the main story, as half of their games have seen a red card thrown. Granted, only two of those cards were given to Sampdoria players, the style of aggression isn’t one to overlook.
As these two teams have struggled to score this season, many bettors may be looking at the over/under, which is listed at 2, 2.5.
Remember that in soccer, a straight wager on the spread or over/under is split into two separate wagers, where (if taking the over) a bettor would need three total goals to win their full wager. If taking the under, a bettor would need two goals to win one and push one, or seen one goal scored to win both.
Sampdoria has attempted 35 shots in their last two games and Spal has scored in every home game they have played this season. With this, taking the over might be the wisest choice betting on soccer today, unless bettors have a certain potentially relegated team that they wish to put their money on.
Streaming or viewing this match may be difficult, but those with an ESPN+ subscription will be granted the ability to watch.
