LOS ANGELES – Although the Los Angeles Lakers struggles will continue to hold them back, one thing that has worked out great for them has been the decision to move Russell Westbrook to the bench serving as the team’s sixth man.

With Westbrook now coming off the bench for most of the season, online sportsbooks have him at the top of their odds boards to win the Sixth Man of the Year award and far ahead of the rest of the pool.

In his new role this season, Westbrook is thriving in his role averaging 14.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg, and 7.6 apg. His assist numbers are the seventh most in the league. He has also recorded two triple-doubles coming off the bench this season joining Magic Johnson as the only other Lakers player to record a triple-double off the bench.

As for how his NBA odds have held up, they’ve been in the shortest position since they first opened in early November 2022. They first opened at +150 then shifted down to +140 after the first quarter of the season finished and have seen their way down each week since then until getting to where they are now.
