- The North Dakota State Bison are monster 25-point favorites against East Tennessee State.
- The Sam Houston State Bearkats have -115 odds to cover 7.0 points against the Montana State Bobcats.
FRISCO, Texas – The FCS Playoffs quarterfinals will take place on Saturday as the North Dakota State Bison and Sam Houston State Bearkats are expected to get closer to facing one another in the championship.
North Dakota Vs. East Tennessee State
NDSU enters the FCS quarterfinals as monster favorites over the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. Online sportsbooks have the Bison as the biggest favorite of the weekend by a very wide margin.
NDSU vs ETSU Spread Odds
- NDSU Bison -25.0 -110
- ETSU Buccaneers +25.0 -110
North Dakota State is the No. 2 seed in the bracket while East Tennessee State is the No. 7 seed. The Bison have the best defense in all of FCS as they are allowing just 11.67 points per game while also having the 11th-best scoring offense with 35.5 points per game.
The Buccaneers are a solid offensive team, scoring 35.2 points per game but their defense simply can’t compete with NDSU’s. Their defense allows 22.23 points per game this year, twice as many points as the Bison.
The spread seems too large even if there is little chance of NDSU being upset. For as good as North Dakota State’s defense is, ETSU will likely score enough points to be able to cover the massive 25-point spread.

Sam Houston State Vs. Montana State
Sam Houston State is set to meet the No. 8-seeded Montana State Bobcats on Saturday as the winner will make a trip to the FCS Playoff semifinals. College football betting sites have the spread set at a touchdown with some slight shading in favor of Sam Houston State.
Montana State vs Sam Houston Spread Odds
- Montana State Bobcats +7.0 -105
- Sam Houston State -7.0 -115
The Bearkats are one of the highest-powered offenses in the league with their 43.0 points per game average and put it on display with their 49-42 win over UIW in the previous round. However, they’ll be playing the second-best scoring defense in FCS that allows just 12.67 points per game.
Bettors will need to decide whether the offense or defense will prove successful, but for what it’s worth, Sam Houston State was only held below 35 points on one occasion throughout the entire year. Also, nine of Sam Houston’s 10 wins came by 7.0 or more points.
As the only undefeated team in FCS, Sam Houston should likely be favored by more points than what they are at the moment.
