TOKYO - Making her first Olympic appearance for Team USA swimming this year in Tokyo is 19-year old star Regan Smith.
Smith is already a decorated swimmer in her young career and is now ready to evaluate her game to the Olympic level in just a few short weeks. A master of the backstroke, Smith already has World Championships in the 200m backstroke, 100m backstroke, and the 4x100 relay.

Hailing from Lakeville, Minnesota, Smith does her swimming currently for the Stanford Cardinal when not representing her country in international competition. Smith was swimming at an elite level by age 12 , and by age 14 was already competing at meets with fellow Olympians like Missy Franklin and Katie Ledecky.
At that same age, she became part of the US Junior National Team and set age records in the backstroke for14-year-olds.
By age 16 Smith was winning senior international medals, her first being the bronze in the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in the 200m backstroke. She went on to set the Junior record for the 100m backstroke at the 2018 USA Swimming Championships.

All of this preparation has set up Smith for her first Olympics, which will surely be the crowning jewel of her achievements thus far in her young career.
