ALBANY, N.Y. – Embattled New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has had much to think about in the past few weeks. Cuomo has been accused of a range of inappropriate behaviors towards female staffers working for his office.
Prominent Democrats in New York politics and national politics have called on Cuomo to resign.
BREAKING: Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Sen. Gillibrand call on NY Gov. Cuomo to resign:

He’s projected a defiant air in response to these accusations, claiming that he will not give in to “cancel culture”.
However, even President Joe Biden has weighed in to say that Cuomo should be investigated, and should resign if his reported behavior is found to be accurate.
The online sportsbooks have posted odds on how effectively Cuomo will be able to navigate these accusations and calls for his resignation.
This manifests itself in a few different sets of odds. First, there are odds on whether Cuomo will resign in the near future, but then there are odds on whether or not he will be re-elected Governor in 2022.

At this point, it seems clear that Cuomo is fairly unlikely to resign. The New York Post reported Saturday that insiders were saying that he had no intention of leaving office willingly.
Cuomo, the son of a former New York governor, a former cabinet-level official in the Clinton administration, claimed to be “not part of the political club", and implied that such status was the reason people were calling on him to resign.
This is a claim that could reasonably be regarded as misleading, but it does shed light on what exactly Cuomo’s mentality is here. He does not seem remotely interested in anything other than retaining power, by any means necessary.
Thus, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the sportsbooks have set the odds the way they have - Cuomo resigning is simply not in the cards right now.
There’s a lot of time between March 21 and April 30, however, for the situation to change in such a way that he would want to resign.
Cuomo 2022 Re-Election Odds, If He Runs
- Lose -400
- Win +250
Not only is he fairly unlikely to resign, online sportsbooks, give him a decent shot at running for governor in 2022 and winning anyway.
Cuomo’s intense desire to retain power has been demonstrated, but would he be willing to embarrass himself in a further election if it were clear he was going to lose?
That remains unclear, and there’s a lot of time between March 21, 2021 and the NY Gubernatorial election in 2022.
Political bettors can wager on whether Cuomo’s iron will to retain power can see him through a crisis that, by all rights, should bring down anyone.
