Week 3 FCS Football Betting Preview: Heavy Favorites Everywhere

• The Wofford Terriers is heavily favored to defeat the Mercer Bears with -850 odds.
• The Southern Illinois Salukis has just -145 odds to take down the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
• The Furman Paladins are a heavy favorite to beat the Western Carolina Catamounts with -2500 odds.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — With the FCS College Football season underway, there are plenty of games for bettors to pick and choose from that could turn out profitable.

Online sportsbooks have odds for three college football teams that are making their season debuts in Week 3 including the Wofford Terriers, North Dakota Fighting Hawks, and the Furman Paladins.

Starting with the game between Wofford and the Mercer Bears, Wofford is going into the game as a super heavy favorite and rightfully so.

There should be no reason that Wofford shouldn’t win this game. Some might think that just because the Mercer Bears have more game experience having played three games in the fall could help, but they lost all three of those games, not to mention they are also winless in their last five games.

Also, Wofford has brought back most of their talent from last season and will likely control the clock once they get out in front with their option plays.

That being said, betting on Wofford’s NCAAF odds to open up their season strong against a weaker team in Mercer could be some very easy money made.

Of all the college football games going down in Week 3, this would have to be the most evenly matched game as both teams have the talent to come out on top. The Southern Illinois Salukis have a top-notch defense that is filled with experienced upperclassman and also an explosive running back in Javon Williams. The North Dakota Fighting Hawks, on the other hand, has a great experienced offensive line that could hold its own here against SIU.

As for who will come out on top, Southern Illinois has more experience going into the game with upperclassmen at almost every position which should surely pay off for them.

The Furman Paladins should be up early in this game against the Western Carolina Catamounts and not look back at all. Western Carolina’s offense is very shaky as they have very few experienced players. They did play three games in the fall but were torched in all three games having allowed 49 or more points in all three.

Furman, on the other hand, has those experienced players and does have a bit of an explosive offense that 60 or more points in on two occasions in their last five games. As mentioned, this should be a runaway game for Furman against an inexperienced team for some easy money.
