MIAMI – The 2020 College Football season will finally crown its champion Monday as the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Both undefeated teams had very different pathways to get to this point, but are both worthy contenders in the biggest game of the year.

Betting on the game will be extremely popular, with most of the online betting sites offering unique odds, lines, and specifically, prop bets.

Currently available are some intriguing prop bets that have piqued the interest of experienced college football bettors, beginning with one for this year’s Heisman Trophy winner.

DeVonta Smith – Total Touchdowns

Coming in at nearly even odds is a prop bet that asks if star wide receiver DeVonta Smith will be able to catch two touchdowns in Monday’s game.

Based on Smith’s stats throughout the season, that is almost a certainty.

Smith earned the Heisman this season by racking up 1,641 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in twelve games. That comes out to an average of 136.8 yards per game, and 1.67 touchdowns per game.

For Smith to hit the over on this bet, he would only have to hit his seasonal averages. In a game of this magnitude, that is looking like a strong possibility.

Another bet that has surfaced is whether each team will be able to score at least 30 points.

The question comes in favor of offense with both teams bringing in some major firepower. The over/under for this game is already at 75.0, meaning those looking to bet on the national championship should already be expecting offense.

The Alabama offense is statistically the best in the country, averaging 48.17 points per game and blowout most of their opponents. Likewise, Ohio State scores 43.4 points per game and looked virtually unstoppable against one of the best teams in the country in Clemson.

Taking this College Football Playoff bet is basically akin to taking the over, with a little more room to work.

Similarly, one prop asks if either team will score 50 points in the game.

This is very possible, as the Buckeyes just hung 49 on one of the best defenses in the country in Clemson, and Alabama has been putting up more than 50 points all season.

In order to get to that point, all the big stars for both offenses will need to be on the field. This leads to the next CFB prop bet, which asks if both Mac Jones or Justin Fields will finish the game.

This is a very interesting prop considering the current health of Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Fields took a massive shot in the semifinal game against Clemson, and appeared to be favoring his ribs or side hip for the remainder of the game.

If Fields takes another big shot, it could reaggravate this injury and force him to the sidelines. He could easily play through any injury as he did against Clemson, but the student-athletes wouldn’t risk his pro career in a dangerous situation.
