Daily Sports Betting Preview 12/4/2020: Top 10 CBB, La Liga, PGA Betting

• Marquette look to upset Wisconsin with +160 odds to do so on the moneyline.
• Athletic Bilbao are favored by half a goal over Celta Vigo.
• Justin Thomas has -135 odds to defeat Viktor Hovland in a head to head matchup at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

LAS VEGAS - Today’s Daily Sports Betting Preview is an excellent one, as we look at some of Friday’s best bets.

First, there are multiple top ten teams playing in NCAA basketball today, and we check out all of them.

Then, over in La Liga, Athletic Bilbao takes on Celta Vigo in a clash of solid Spanish teams. Finally, the PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Golf Classic brings some solid three ball betting opportunities to the table.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

NCAA Basketball Betting

There are a lot of excellent teams set to play today and four of them are in the top 10 - although their opponents are not.

First, Creighton faces off against Kennesaw State.

Creighton, ranked 9th in the country, is a monstrous favorite against the lowly Kennesaw State. In fact, most sportsbooks don’t even have moneyline odds on this matchup.

The only way to wager on it is via the spread and various prop betting opportunities available at the online sportsbooks.

Then, Michigan State faces off against Detroit University.

Detroit University looks to be a bit more of a challenge for Michigan State than Kennesaw State is set to be for Creighton, but that’s not saying much.

That said, they are more reasonable underdogs. They still don’t have moneyline odds on the major online sportsbooks, however.

After that, eyes will turn to Duke vs. Bellarmine.

Duke, ranked sixth in the nation, are sitting as 30 point favorites against Bellarmine, square in between the other two matchups.

At the same time Duke takes on Bellarmine, Wisconsin will be facing off against Marquette.

Here is a matchup that looks to be a genuinely great one. Wisconsin may be ranked fourth in the nation, but the season is young and the rankings could be wrong.

Marquette looks to have a fighting chance - maybe more than that.

In fact, they’re close enough to Wisconsin to merit a moneyline, a courtesy afforded to none of the other opponents of top 10 teams today.

This matchup could be the best game today, and it airs at 7:00 p.m. EST.

College basketball bettors would be wise to pay attention to all of these games, but especially this last one.

La Liga Betting

La Liga features an interesting matchup today between Celta Vigo and Athletic Bilbao.

Bilbao are currently sitting in 9th place in La Liga, while Celta Vigo face relegation at 18th place in the league.

Bilbao are nearly odds on favorites on the three way moneyline, and removing the possibility of a draw from the equation makes them big time favorites.

Interestingly, the three way line conflicts a bit with the spread, which is set at Bilbao -0.5 with some shading.

So, this might be a bit minor, but free points are free points: a bet on Bilbao -0.5 is exactly the same as taking them on the three way moneyline.

However, the three way moneyline is slightly more rewarding with +110 odds, meaning anyone who wants to bet Bilbao -0.5 (+105) should instead bet Bilbao +110.

Soccer bettors should keep these kind of mild optimizations in mind if they want to eke out all the profit they can.

PGA Tour Mayakoba Golf Classic

The second round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic is set to kick off on Friday morning, which means it’s time to run down some head to head matchup betting.

Billy Horschel and Brian Harman are deadlocked in this matchup - each has equal odds to win it, similar to the odds on a coinflip.

In addition, both of the two golfers have +12500 odds to have the best score in the second round - once again identical.

Adam Long holds the edge over Emiliano Grillo in this matchup, with EVEN odds to Grillo’s -130.

However, Grillo has much better odds in the second round of this tournament, with +1000, while Long languishes at +15000.

A lot of that is because Grillo did very well in the first round of this tournament - a performance that might not continue into day two.

This is interesting - Grillo is much more favored than Long to have the best score in the second round, but is unfavored in the head to head.

That’s certainly one for golf bettors to ponder.

Two of the best golfers in the world face off for our last head to head matchup, and neither of them need an introduction.

Justin Thomas would be favored in the heads up against nearly every golfer alive right now, and it’s a credit to Viktor Hovland that he’s approaching even odds against Thomas.

Thomas is +2500 to win the tournament, while Hovland is +1000. This is because Thomas struggled in the first round of the tournament.

This is certainly a tournament to tune in to, and even these head to head matchups deserve golf bettors’ full attention.
