ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The 2020 College Football season really gets underway on Monday evening, as the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars take on the Navy Shipmen.
The two teams are set to face off in each of their first games of the season, and the game will be nationally televised.
This means that it will likely be the premier college football betting event of the day.

Given that this is the first game of the season, a lot of the betting prognosis is going to be based on the personnel that are involved in the game.
Of the two, it is likely that Navy suffered the biggest loss during the offseason, as Malcolm Perry, their quarterback, graduated and made the Miami Dolphins 53 man roster.
Perry is replaced by rising senior Dalen Morris, which is good - a senior quarterback means there might not be a ton of production lost as far as execution goes.
However, Perry was one of the best players in football last year, racking up over 2000 yards on the ground as a quarterback.
No matter how good Morris is, Navy, coming off an 11-2 season, will have some trouble replicating it without Perry.

However, notably, BYU is not replacing their quarterback. Zach Wilson once again takes the reins of the Cougars offense.
The basic storyline of this game is that, while Navy was better than BYU last year, the sportsbooks doubt they can repeat that performance without Perry under center.
The dual shadows of Malcolm Perry and Navy’s 3-10 2018 season hang over this game. Will Navy be able to succeed with a new captain? Will they regress to their pre-Perry form?
BYU has not been stellar, but they have been consistent, finishing at 7-6 in both 2018 and 2019. Will consistency be enough to beat Navy?
