- Pat McAfee is a +550 underdog against Adam Cole in a potential matchup in WWE.
- The New York Islanders are +115 underdogs against the Washington Capitals in today’s NHL playoff matchup.
- Ronnie O’Sullivan is a -166 odds favorite against Mark Selby in the World Snooker Championship.
LAS VEGAS - Welcome back to the Daily Sports Betting Preview on this beautiful Wednesday morning!
Today’s edition of the Preview starts out with a discussion of the matchup between Adam Cole and Pat McAfee on WWE’s NXT brand.
Then, the Preview takes a look at the NHL Playoffs, which are ongoing and quite interesting for sports bettors.
Finally, the Preview checks back in with the World Snooker Championship as Mark Selby takes on Ronnie O’Sullivan.
There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!
WWE Betting
Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee has made a life for himself after retiring from professional football.
His show, the Pat McAfee Show, has made him into a sports media figure, and he recently joined the WWE in what was thought to be a commentary based role.
McAfee has not stepped into a WWE ring as a competitor yet, but that is all set to change later tonight.
He faces off against Adam Cole, as Cole comes off of his run as the NXT Champion, a title he held for a long time before losing it to Keith Lee recently.
Cole vs. McAfee might seem an unlikely pairing, but the two have built up animosity on-screen for a while now.
This animosity culminated in McAfee’s appearance on NXT, wherein he taunted Cole as Cole’s stable, the Undisputed Era, lost their matchup for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
The two of them will meet at NXT Takeover XXX on August 22nd, but there are odds on BetOnline’s sportsbook regarding that match that end today.
The reason for the odds ending is that there is an episode of NXT today, and while a bout between the two is not announced, and might not happen until the Pay-Per-View, the odds are on a match between McAfee and Cole, as long as it happens before September 30th.
Adam Cole vs. Pat McAfee:
- Adam Cole -1000
- Pat McAfee +550
Adam Cole is a heavy favorite in a potential matchup against McAfee, which is interesting given that the WWE is predetermined.
As unrealistic as it might seem to have McAfee beat Cole, it is absolutely an event that could occur, and these odds seem to treat it as impossible.
Remember that WWE odds are based on what the sportsbooks think will happen, which can include leaks, however.
There’s a lot to consider when it comes to this line, and it’s certainly interesting enough to consider.
If the two of them don’t come face to face tonight, they certainly will on August 22nd at NXT Takeover XXX.
NHL Betting
The NHL playoffs have been excellent so far, with great matchups and a fair bit of intensity on display.
The expansion of the playoffs has brought a lot of great betting opportunities to the table in terms of volume that were not there for NHL bettors in normal years.
However, now the preliminary rounds are over, and the NHL playoffs have begun in earnest.

Today’s featured matchup is between the New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals, teams with a lot of history.
The Islanders and Capitals, beyond being rivals, are rivals in a fairly unique way, as best represented by Barry Trotz.
Trotz, the coach of the Islanders, led the Capitals to the Stanley Cup before being let go after a contract dispute.
New York has been a good team under Trotz, and many wonder if this playoff matchup could mark the beginning of his revenge on the team that didn’t value him enough to keep him.
New York Islanders vs. Washington Capitals:
- New York Islanders +115
- Washington Capitals -127
The Islanders are mild underdogs on the moneyline, at +115, while the Capitals clock in with -127 odds as the favorites.
The Islanders took a 3-1 series win in the qualifying rounds against the Carolina Panthers, while the Capitals played in the round robin for seeding.
This looks like it could be a series that takes a while to figure out - a rivalry that will require fighting to the bitter end.
The Capitals were the better team during the regular season, but not by much, and it’s unclear how much regular season form impacts these games, which happen months after the regular season did.
This is an interesting one, and hockey bettors would be wise to keep an eye on it.
World Snooker Championships
The World Snooker Championships continue today with a matchup between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Selby.
This semifinal matchup looks to be one of the best of the tournament, and O’Sullivan aims to take another win here.
O’Sullivan is one of the most decorated snooker players of all time, and sets himself up as the deserving favorite here.
Ronnie O’Sullivan vs. Mark Selby:
- Ronnie O’Sullivan -166
- Mark Selby +146
O’Sullivan has -166 odds to win the match, while Selby has +146 odds to pull off the underdog upset.
Ronnie O’Sullivan vs. Mark Selby:
- Ronnie O’Sullivan -2.5
- Mark Selby +2.5
The spread actually perfectly splits the odds - O’Sullivan -2.5 has -115 odds, as does Selby +2.5, which makes this a pretty compelling wager for those who don’t want to risk the moneyline.
The Over/Under line for this match is set at 29.5, and both the Over and the Under have -115 odds as well.
This is a good snooker matchup, and should be a good betting matchup in addition to that.
It is absolutely worth checking out some snooker betting on this fine Wednesday morning!
