- Tiz The Law (+200) is favored to win the 2020 Belmont Stakes.
- Honor A.P has the shortest odds (+1400) outside of the heavily favored top three horses.
- The Belmont Stakes is usually the last race run to complete the Horse Racing’s Triple Crown but will be the first race this year.
NEW YORK — The Belmont Stakes will be the first leg of the Triple Crown in horse racing this summer for the first time due to the rescheduling caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Belmont Stakes is traditionally the last race to complete horse racing’s Triple Crown. This year’s race will be on Saturday, June 20, at Belmont Park after previously being scheduled for a June 6 race day with no fans in attendance.
Another major difference between this year’s Belmont Stakes and last years will be the size of the track. Usually, the Belmont Stakes is a 1-1/2 mile race and this year’s abbreviated course will be 1-1/8 miles. This shorter race could provide a slight advantage for some of the horses.
The Belmont Stakes is one of the few events where online sportsbooks offer longshots that come with some of the biggest potential returns on bets.

Honor A.P (+1400)
Honor A.P has the shortest Belmont Stakes odds of any horse listed at above +1000.
Honor finished in second place at his last race at the San Felipe Stakes. That high of a finish cannot be ignored as Honor A.P is easily one of the best long shot bets at the Belmont Stakes this year.
Due to the season Honor A.P was having before the postponements due to the coronavirus, the +1400 odds on this Honor A.P are well worth the dice roll for this prop.

Dr. Post (+1600)
Coming off a first-place finish in the Unbridled Stakes in his last race Dr. Post should carry that momentum into the Belmont Stakes.
Dr. Post is another longshot to win the Belmont Stakes. Dr. Post is capable of winning but the consistency has to be there for this horse to be that long shot sure bet in this race.
Basin (+2500)
In Basin’s last race, this thoroughbred took home second place in the Arkansas Derby while losing to Charlatan (+250). Losing to Charlatan is not a knock as that horse is among the favorites to win this year’s Belmont Stakes.
However, it speaks more to Basin’s talent level in that he can compete with a horse like Charlatan.
In the event one of the top horses slip up, expect Basin to slide in or run away with the Belmont Stakes.
Basin’s +2500 odds and moderately close finish to Charlatan make the dart throw on the odds well worth the risk.
